The Great Commission
Revival Now America is committed to the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ. And what is the Great Commission? While the term is not found in the Bible, it is very much implied. It refers to the commandment of the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ to His disciples, to “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the world” (Matthew 28:19-20). The Great Commission must not be confused with the Great Commandment, which is to love God and our neighbors (Matthew 22:36-40).
The Great Commission requires believers to make disciples, not only locally but also internationally. We are required to teach, to train and to equip disciples to make other disciples (2 Timothy 2:2). This is our mission here at Revival Now America, to make disciples of every nation on the planet. After the training, successful students would be ordained ministers of the gospel and ordination is by direct and personal laying on of hands. We do not do “Internet Ordination.”
Discipleship is a serious matter!
The call to discipleship is a serious venture! One must weigh the costs and carefully consider whether one is called to discipleship, or to mere church membership. Are you willing to deny yourself, take up your cross daily to follow the Lord (Matthew 16:24; Luke 9:23)? Remember, anyone who does not take his cross to follow the Lord, is not worthy of discipleship (Matthew 10:38). Denying self means to give up one’s own life, plans and aspirations for God’s plans for your life. You would not do whatever you want to do, or go wherever you want, or try to please everybody. You would have to forget about your pride or self-importance or self-esteem. If you are so full of yourself, you cannot be a disciple. If you have so many commitments to the world, you cannot be a disciple. And if you think ministry is a way to make money, then forget it! Taking up the cross daily means that your old life is crucified with Christ, and you now live a new life in Jesus Christ (Galatians 2:21). A disciple must also be willing to study the word, “to show yourself approved to God” (2 Timothy 2:15).

The rewards of discipleship
Discipleship would cost us everything in the world, but we have everything to gain in the kingdom of God. The Lord offers great rewards for disciples. First of all, He gives us the grace and empowerment to become disciples and it is not like we carry a burden we cannot bear. He is there with us on the journey to give us the strength and the victory we need (Matthew 28:20).
As disciples, we have great pleasure and joy in ministering to the people, in bringing salvation to the lost, healing to the sick and deliverance to the captives. Apart from the gift of eternal life, we have special positions of authority when the Lord comes to establish His kingdom on earth in the millennium (Revelation 20:4-6). We would also have special positions and authority in the new heaven and earth that would appear after the millennium (Revelation 21:1-7). Further, God has prepared some special rewards for disciples and believers which we cannot fathom at this point, except by revelation (1 Corinthians 2:9-10).
"The opposite of discipleship is to be ashamed of Christ and His cross and all the offence which the cross brings in its train."
Dietrich Bonhoeffer
